A story of defiance against today's throwaway society – and a declaration of love to second-hand shops.

Complete with camera on his shoulder, Christian Knorr documents the efforts of three of the most colourful characters in Bern's second-hand scene as they strive for self-determination and entrepreneurial freedom. "Widerstand Brockenhaus" demonstrates the remarkable resilience, innovativeness and dedication of these tireless traders in a counter-world which goes far beyond the smaller scope of second-hand dealing.
Due to building renovation, Renato Rota had to give up his second-hand shop in an old pickled cabbage factory. While looking for new premises, he moves his stock into provisional storage.
For 20 years Johannes Spycher has been running his second-hand shop from an old coffee roastery. As part of his strategy for survival, this small but enterprising businessman has expanded into other fields.
In comparison, Stefan Utiger has only recently opened a second-hand shop. For him, gaining a foothold in this profession has meant risking a leap into the unknown.
